Q. How are you
funded?
A. We are under contract with the Hamilton County Juvenile
Court that provides 80% of our funding. That leaves a
critical 20% to be raised through special events, grants,
and personal contributions.
Q. Are you licensed?
A. Yes, Youth, Incorporated is licensed by the Ohio Department
of Job and Family Services. We received 100% ratings on
our program audits the last two years.
Q. How do children
come into your program?
A. Every child doesn’t need to go to the detention center.
Youth, Incorporated is an alternative residential program
for youth who have been referred from the Hamilton County
Court system.
Q. How long do they
stay?
A. The average stay is fourteen days with some youth able
to benefit from our program for up to 90 days.
Q. How do you maintain
discipline?
A. We offer a highly structured behavior modification program,
with a trained staff to implement responsible decision-making
techniques. The children strive to earn points to obtain
privileges. If they fail to follow our program rules, they
can be returned to the detention center. Go to our programs

Q. What do the children
do all day?
A. Our children go to school like all other children. We
have a satellite Cincinnati Public School with two certified
teachers and we maintain classes all year round. We provide
many educational and life skill experiences. Please see

Q. How many children
do you have?
A. We have 18 boys at a time, 8 in one house and 10 in the
other. Both houses are in Westwood. We provide services
to over 600 children a year.
Q. Can any child
be placed into your program?
A. No, a child must be placed from the Hamilton County Detention
Center.
Q. What kind of
training do they get?
A. They learn skills in anger management, conflict resolution,
violence prevention and responsible
decision-making. They also learn
basic civic life skills and the importance of steering clear

Q. How successful
is your program?
A. Over 50% of the children stay to the completion of the
program, receiving hours of instruction and adult modeling,
to help them start making better decisions.
